My Dream College

So after graduating from High School, most people continue onto another four or more years of education at a college that they apply to. I too am hoping to move onto that higher level of education by next year, meaning, that I have to apply to colleges in the coming fall to attain admission. From this comes an issue though: Which Colleges do I apply too? I have already considered my intended major (Bio engineering or Biological Sciences) once I walk across the threshold into my new school. The thing is, which have I considered?

Thankfully, at my school we have a program (A national foundation called AVID) that I have joined that specifically helps students find the colleges that suit them the most. Over the past two years, I have been researching colleges and over the past three years I have been visiting colleges during the fall and spring. From all this, I have "narrowed" my list down to a top three college short list. These have a representative from each type of school, meaning one from the University of California (UC) system, one from the California State University (CSU) system and one from the private system. From the UCs, my dream school is UC Irvine down south by San Diego. This one made it onto my top list because when I visited it, it gave me a very secure feeling that this school has a good foundation in the fields of science, and it has started a marching band, one of my passions and interests aside from my intended career. Since they offer the sciences I want and the musical programs I love in the sun down south, it had to be on my list. Further north, is the school from the CSU system, California Polytechnics San Luis Obispo. This one, while not as far south as UC Irvine, includes all the things I'm looking for; plus, it is closer to home, and I probably won't be looked at weirdly when I wear SF Giants stuff. It also has a much more accredited marching band, meaning that instead of helping build up a band (like I have here at my High school, which I enjoyed) at UC Irvine, I can just jump in with one that's been pre-built. Lastly, my slightly impossible private dream college is Stanford University. This one, being a lot closer to home, Is the best private college out there that contains all my interests in one location while keeping me in line with my interests for my career.

If I was accepted to any of these colleges, I'd head out to them in a heartbeat. They all have differences, but they each have traits that have drawn me to them and apply to them in the fall.
